ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial, titled "Sleep Patterns After Total Joint Replacement Surgery," aims to understand how sleep is affected after patients have total knee or hip replacement surgery. The study will help determine when patients can expect their sleep to return to normal or even improve after their surgery. Participants will use a special device called the SleepScore Max, along with a smartphone app, to monitor their sleep habits starting a week before their surgery and continuing for six months afterward. This device tracks various aspects of sleep, such as how long you sleep, how quickly you fall asleep, and how many times you wake up during the night. Participants will also provide information about their caffeine and alcohol use, exercise, and complete surveys to assess their sleep quality and overall health.

To be eligible for this study, you need to be at least 18 years old and planning to have either a total knee or hip replacement surgery. Unfortunately, individuals who have existing sleep disorders, neurological conditions, or who are unable to give consent will not be included. The goal of this research is to gain insights into sleep patterns for patients undergoing these types of surgeries, which could lead to better sleep recommendations and support for future patients.
