ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at a surgical procedure called truncal vagotomy, which will be performed alongside a type of weight-loss surgery known as sleeve gastrectomy to gastric bypass. The main goal of the study is to see if this combined surgery can help reduce the symptoms and occurrence of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), a condition where stomach acid frequently flows back into the esophagus, causing discomfort.
To be eligible for this trial, participants need to be at least 18 years old and must qualify for the revisional surgery from sleeve gastrectomy to gastric bypass. Unfortunately, those under 18 or who do not qualify for this specific type of surgery will not be able to participate. While the trial is not yet recruiting participants, those who join can expect to undergo the combined surgical procedure and will help researchers learn more about the effectiveness of this approach in managing GERD after surgery.
