ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how effective a medication called ketamine is in managing pain after laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy, a type of weight-loss surgery. The trial aims to see if giving ketamine before and after surgery can help reduce pain and improve comfort for patients. Researchers believe that ketamine, when used alone or with other pain-relieving medications, can make a positive difference in how patients feel after their surgery.
To participate in this trial, individuals need to have a body mass index (BMI) between 35 and 60, and they should be either healthy or have well-managed conditions like high blood pressure or diabetes. Unfortunately, those who are younger than 21, have a BMI over 60, or have certain health issues like severe systemic disease or a history of sleep apnea will not be eligible. Participants can expect to receive either ketamine or another pain relief method during their surgery and will be monitored for its effectiveness in reducing pain after the procedure. This study is currently looking for volunteers, and everyone involved will be contributing to important research aimed at improving post-surgery care.
