ClinConnect Summary
The PRISM Race and Communication Pilot RCT is a clinical trial designed to explore how well a program called PRISM can help improve communication between doctors and patients, particularly for individuals from racial minority backgrounds who are seriously ill. The trial aims to see if this program can also help these patients build resilience, which means being able to cope better with their illness. The study is currently looking for 60 participants who are hospitalized and have a life expectancy of two years or less due to conditions like advanced cancer or severe lung disease.
To be eligible for the trial, participants must be at least 18 years old, speak English, and not have any cognitive impairments that would prevent them from completing surveys or taking part in the PRISM sessions. If you join the trial, you'll be part of a program that aims to enhance communication with your healthcare team, which could lead to better care and support. This trial is an important step in understanding how to improve healthcare experiences for patients from diverse backgrounds facing serious health challenges.
