ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, called NICE-A, is studying how feelings of apathy (a lack of interest or motivation) are related to the occurrence of future strokes in people who have recently experienced a minor stroke or a transient ischemic attack (TIA), which is sometimes called a mini-stroke. Researchers want to understand why about one in three stroke survivors feel apathetic and how this might affect their health going forward. The trial is currently looking for participants aged 18 and older who have had a minor stroke or TIA within the last month.
If you or a loved one are eligible and decide to participate, you will be part of a study that will explore these important connections. Participants will complete follow-up assessments to help researchers gather valuable information on how apathy affects recovery and the risk of future strokes. It's also important to note that certain patients, such as those with serious health issues or those who have had specific treatments for their strokes, may not be eligible to join the study. This research aims to shed light on a commonly overlooked aspect of stroke recovery, helping to improve care for future patients.
