ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is investigating how well a test that detects circulating tumor cells (CTCs) can help identify whether colorectal cancer has returned after surgery. Patients who have had their tumors completely removed and have high levels of certain tumor markers in their blood may be eligible to participate. If they have positive CTC results, they will be randomly placed into two groups: one group will continue regular check-ups until any signs of cancer show up on scans, while the other group will either start treatment or adjust their current treatment plan. The main goal of the study is to see if using the CTC test can lead to longer survival times for patients.
To qualify for this trial, participants need to be between 18 and 80 years old, have a confirmed diagnosis of colorectal cancer, and have had all their tumors surgically removed. They also must have elevated tumor markers in their blood and show at least one CTC in their test results. Participants will need to provide consent to join the trial and must not have any evidence that their cancer has returned, nor should they have had any other cancers in the past five years. The study is not yet recruiting, but it aims to help improve the way doctors monitor and treat colorectal cancer patients after surgery.
