ClinConnect Summary
The Mother-Infant Cohort Study is a research project taking place in Malaysia and China. This study aims to understand how the bacteria found in breast milk from mothers in these two countries can affect the health and development of their infants. Researchers want to see if these differences in breast milk can influence things like a baby's mood, tummy troubles, skin issues like eczema, and even asthma symptoms.
To participate in this study, women need to be pregnant and between the ages of 18 and 45. They should be visiting specific clinics for their prenatal check-ups and plan to continue attending check-ups after the baby is born for at least a year. Unfortunately, women who have certain health issues or are expecting more than one baby, among other criteria, are not eligible. Participants can expect to provide breast milk samples and answer questions about their health and their baby’s development over time, helping researchers learn more about these important connections.
