ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is exploring whether playing music during certain medical procedures can help reduce pain and anxiety for patients with chronic lower back pain. Researchers believe that listening to music might make patients feel less anxious and report lower pain levels compared to those who do not have music during their treatment. The study is currently looking for participants aged 18 and older who are scheduled for standard lumbar spinal procedures, like epidural steroid injections and facet injections.
If you decide to participate, you will be randomly assigned to either the music group or a control group without music. The study aims to see if there are any differences in your pain and anxiety levels, as well as changes in your vital signs, such as heart rate. It’s important to know that some people may not be eligible, including those who have difficulty understanding and consenting, do not speak English, take certain heart medications, or have hearing issues. This study is a pilot, which means it’s an early step in assessing the effects of music therapy in a medical setting.
