ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at the heart health of people with beta thalassemia, a blood disorder that often requires regular blood transfusions. One serious issue that can arise in these patients is heart failure caused by excess iron buildup in the heart muscle from the transfusions. The trial will use a safe and painless test called an echocardiogram, which is like an ultrasound for the heart, to check how well the heart is functioning in patients from southern China.
To participate in this study, individuals must have a confirmed diagnosis of beta thalassemia. However, those who have iron deficiency anemia will not be included. If you or someone you know qualifies, joining this trial could help researchers understand heart issues related to beta thalassemia better, ultimately leading to improved care for future patients.
