ClinConnect Summary

The REVER trial is studying how virtual reality (VR) can help reduce stress for children undergoing proton therapy, a type of cancer treatment. Many young patients find the long and uncomfortable positioning during treatment stressful, which can affect their experience and the effectiveness of the therapy. By using VR, the hope is to create a more relaxing environment that helps children feel more at ease, making it easier for them to stay in position during their treatment.

To be eligible for this study, participants need to be between 7 and 18 years old and receiving proton therapy at the Antoine LACASSAGNE Center. They must also have parental consent if they are minors. Those with certain medical conditions, like severe claustrophobia or specific head or respiratory issues, cannot participate. If they join, participants can expect to engage in VR sessions before or during their treatment, and researchers will evaluate how well this helps reduce their anxiety and improve their overall treatment experience. This pilot study is the first of its kind for kids and aims to create a more positive atmosphere for children receiving radiotherapy.
