ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying diabetic retinopathy, a common eye condition that can affect people with diabetes. Researchers want to understand how widespread this condition is in Egypt and how new imaging technology, called ultrawide field imaging, can help detect it earlier and more accurately. This imaging allows doctors to see a larger area of the retina, which is the back part of the eye, and identify any problems that could lead to vision loss. The trial will gather information over five years about how many people have diabetic retinopathy and the severity of their condition, as well as factors that might increase their risk.
To be eligible for this trial, participants need to have diabetes. They will undergo imaging at the I-care Ophthalmology Center, where trained specialists will analyze the images to check for diabetic retinopathy. If a participant has signs of more serious eye issues, they will be advised to return for additional evaluations. Those with mild retinopathy will have follow-up imaging once a year. This study is important because it aims to improve early detection and management of diabetic retinopathy, which can help protect vision for many people living with diabetes.
