ClinConnect Summary

This study is trying to see if simple text message reminders to parents can help pull up vaccination rates for young children. It focuses on kids aged 0-2 in Sunset Park, Brooklyn who are behind on vaccines and receive care at NYU Langone Health’s Brooklyn Family Health Centers. Eligible children are 1 to 2 years old, must be in the NYU Brooklyn clinic network, and have vaccines due or due soon. Families are invited to join, and kids outside this age or outside the network aren’t eligible.

Participants are put into one of three groups: text message 1 (safety and clinic cleanliness framing), text message 2 (importance of vaccines framing), or no text message. Over about a year, researchers will look at changes in how many vaccines are given (the proportion of due vaccines that get completed) and how many vaccination appointments are scheduled. The study began in 2021, plans to enroll about 1,203 children, and aims to finish around March 2026. It’s an observational, non-drug study led by NYU Langone Health, not regulated by the FDA, and individual results aren’t shared beyond the study.
