ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is focused on reducing violence by teachers against children in schools across Tanzania, Uganda, and Ghana. The study is testing a program called Interaction Competencies with Children - for Teachers (ICC-T), which aims to change teachers' attitudes towards violence and teach them non-violent ways to discipline students. Violence in schools can have harmful effects on children's mental health and overall well-being, so this trial seeks to provide evidence that the ICC-T program can help create a safer and more supportive learning environment for students.
To participate in this study, students must be enrolled in class 3 of primary school or class 1 of secondary school, and teachers at the school can also take part. Participants will be asked to give their consent, and for younger students, their parents will need to consent on their behalf. The trial is looking for public mixed-gender day schools with at least 40 students in the selected classes. Those with serious substance abuse or acute mental health issues will not be eligible to join the study. Participants can expect to be part of a program that aims to improve both their school experience and their well-being.
