ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is investigating a condition called ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) in children who are on mechanical ventilation in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). VAP is a type of lung infection that can occur in patients who have been on a ventilator for more than 48 hours. The study aims to better understand the germs that cause this infection by using advanced testing methods, which could help doctors identify and treat VAP more effectively.
To participate in this trial, children must be admitted to the PICU for invasive mechanical ventilation for less than 24 hours, but they should have been on the ventilator for more than five days in total. Participants will undergo testing to analyze the germs in their lungs. It’s important to note that this trial is not yet recruiting participants, and those currently involved in other clinical studies or without signed consent will not be eligible to join. This research could lead to better care for children facing serious respiratory issues while on mechanical support.
