ClinConnect Summary
The RB Liquid Biopsy Biorepository trial is researching a new way to better understand retinoblastoma (RB), a type of eye cancer that mainly affects young children. Instead of waiting until surgery to study the tumor, this study uses a sample of the aqueous humor, which is the clear fluid in the front part of the eye, to look for specific markers that can reveal important information about the cancer. This could help doctors diagnose and treat RB more effectively.
To participate in this trial, patients must be between the ages of 0 days and 18 years and have been diagnosed with either unilateral (one eye) or bilateral (both eyes) retinoblastoma at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. Unfortunately, patients who are only seeking second opinions and have not been treated at this hospital are not eligible to join. If you or your child qualify, you can expect to provide a sample of the aqueous humor, which will be used to advance research on this condition and potentially improve future treatments for retinoblastoma.
