ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how involving young patients in their pre-surgery counseling can help them recover better after gynecologic surgery. It focuses on a special recovery program called ERAS (Enhanced Recovery After Surgery), which aims to reduce pain and improve how quickly patients return to their daily activities, like going back to school. The trial will randomly assign participants to either have counseling with their caregivers or just their caregivers alone and will track how well they follow medication instructions and their pain levels after surgery.
To be eligible for this study, participants need to be girls aged 9 to 17 who are scheduled for abdominal surgery and will be part of the ERAS program. However, those with developmental delays, emergency surgeries, or who attend appointments without a caregiver cannot participate. If enrolled, patients can expect to engage in discussions about their care, which may help them feel more prepared and comfortable before their surgery. The trial is currently looking for participants, so it's a great opportunity for those who qualify.
