ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new way to help prevent falls in older adults, particularly Veterans who are at high risk for falling. Falls can cause serious injuries, so finding effective prevention methods is very important. The study will use a method called neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) to strengthen the hip muscles, which may help improve balance and mobility. Participants will take part in a program that combines NMES with exercises aimed at enhancing their ability to stand, walk, and step over objects safely.
To join the study, individuals need to be at least 55 years old and considered at risk for falls. However, some people may not be eligible, such as those with certain health conditions like poorly controlled high blood pressure or dementia. If you decide to participate, you can expect to engage in a program that combines this innovative stimulation technique with physical exercises to help improve your strength and balance, ultimately aiming to reduce your risk of falling.
