ClinConnect Summary
The RICH Trial is a study looking at a method called remote ischemic preconditioning, which involves briefly restricting blood flow to a limb to see if it can help protect the kidneys and heart during procedures like cardiac catheterization. This trial focuses on patients with heart failure who are at risk of experiencing kidney problems after using contrast dye during these tests. Researchers want to find out if this method can improve kidney function and help patients recover better.
To join the trial, participants must be at least 18 years old and have heart failure with a specific type of heart function issue. They should be scheduled for a coronary angiogram or a related procedure and must meet certain health criteria. Participants will be randomly assigned to receive either the actual treatment or a placebo (a fake treatment) and will be monitored closely throughout the study. This trial is currently looking for volunteers and aims to provide valuable insights into better protecting patients' kidneys and hearts during important medical procedures.
