ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at a new way to help people who are struggling with methamphetamine use disorder, which is when someone has a strong problem with using meth. The study will compare two approaches: one that uses psilocybin, a substance found in certain mushrooms, along with psychotherapy (talk therapy) and another that uses standard treatment methods. The researchers want to see if the psilocybin-enhanced therapy can help people reduce or stop their meth use more effectively.
To participate in this trial, you need to be a United States military veteran with moderate to severe problems related to meth use and a desire to quit or cut back. However, there are some health conditions that would prevent you from joining, such as certain heart problems or serious mental health issues. If eligible, participants can expect to receive personalized therapy sessions and may take psilocybin under careful supervision. This trial is currently recruiting and aims to explore a potentially innovative treatment option for veterans facing this challenging addiction.
