ClinConnect Summary
The Women's Health Awareness Community Resiliency, Environmental Action and Collaborations for Health (REACH) Equity trial is focused on understanding how COVID-19 has affected minority women and their families in North Carolina. The goal is to identify the long-term impacts of the pandemic, which can help create community programs aimed at supporting recovery from these challenges. This study is particularly important as it addresses the severe disparities in COVID-19 experiences among underrepresented groups.
To participate in this study, women aged 18 and older who identify as African American, Hispanic, American Indian, Asian American, or Pacific Islander and live in North Carolina can apply. Participants will complete a 45-minute online survey about their health and lifestyle. They may also have the option to provide various samples, including blood, urine, saliva, and even dust from their homes, to help researchers understand environmental factors. Additionally, they might wear silicone wristbands for a week to measure exposure to air pollutants. The study is currently recruiting participants, and those who join may be contacted for follow-up in the future.
