ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new method for inserting a small tube called a peripheral venous catheter in newborns who need medical care. This type of catheter is important for giving medications, fluids, or anesthesia. In some cases, doctors have trouble placing the catheter on the first try, which can happen about half the time, especially in emergencies. The trial is testing whether using a special tool called a micro-guide can make it easier to insert the catheter correctly and reduce the chances of complications.
To participate in the trial, babies must be admitted to the neonatal medicine and pediatric intensive care unit at Montpellier University Hospital and be 28 days old or younger. Unfortunately, babies who are older or have certain specific needs for other types of catheters cannot join. If your baby is eligible, they will be part of a study that could improve how doctors place catheters in newborns, helping to ensure safer and more effective treatment.
