ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is focused on understanding how children and teenagers with Sotos Syndrome (SS) and Beckwith-Wiedemann Syndrome (BWS) perceive their bodies and how this affects their social skills and emotional development. Both of these conditions cause excessive growth and can lead to challenges in learning and interacting socially. The researchers want to learn more about how these children and adolescents experience their body image, which is how they see and feel about their bodies, and how this might be different from their peers without these syndromes. They hope to find out if differences in body perception are linked to difficulties in recognizing and managing emotions.
To participate in the study, children and teenagers aged 18 to 26 and 65 to 74 with a confirmed diagnosis of SS or BWS are welcome. However, those with serious physical or sensory challenges that might make it hard to complete tasks will not be included. The study will also look at typically developing adolescents for comparison, as long as they do not have any neurological or mental health conditions. Participants can expect to take part in assessments that explore their body perception and social abilities, helping to shed light on how these syndromes affect their development.
