ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is testing a new online counseling program called "EASE Online," designed to help people in Hong Kong who suffer from social anxiety disorder. Social anxiety disorder makes it difficult for individuals to interact with others due to intense fear of judgment or embarrassment. The trial aims to see if this online program can effectively reduce feelings of social anxiety and improve the overall quality of life for participants. Researchers will also check how well the program works after 3 and 6 months of use.
To be eligible for this study, participants must be Hong Kong residents aged between 18 and 70, fluent in Cantonese, and have a certain level of social anxiety as measured by a specific questionnaire. They should not be currently receiving any psychological treatment and need to have access to a computer or smartphone with internet. However, individuals who are severely depressed or have had thoughts of self-harm recently cannot participate. Those who join can expect to engage with the online program at their own pace, with the potential for significant improvements in managing their social anxiety.
