ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how a special diet called exclusive enteral nutrition (EEN) can help children with Ulcerative Colitis (UC) achieve remission, which means reducing symptoms and inflammation. While EEN has shown benefits for another condition called Crohn's disease, its effects on UC are not as well understood. In this study, children aged 6 to 18 who have recently been diagnosed with moderate to severe UC will receive EEN along with either corticosteroids or a medication called infliximab. The researchers will compare how well this combination treatment works to help heal the intestinal lining after 12 weeks, compared to those who do not receive EEN.
To be eligible for this trial, participants must be newly diagnosed with UC and show moderate to severe symptoms. However, children with mild symptoms or those who have already been treated with corticosteroids or biologic medications will not be included. If your child participates, they can expect to follow a special diet and receive other treatments while being monitored closely by the medical team. This trial aims to find better ways to help kids with UC feel better and improve their overall health.
