ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new approach to help people with chronic insomnia, which affects about 20 to 30% of the population. The researchers want to find out if "therapeutic education," which involves group workshops, is more effective than traditional one-on-one consultations for treating sleep problems. In these workshops, participants will learn about healthy sleep habits, how sleep changes as we age, and the potential risks of using sleeping pills. They will also have the chance to share experiences with others facing similar challenges, which can make the process of managing insomnia easier and quicker.
To participate in this study, individuals must be aged 65 to 74, be able to read and understand French, and meet certain criteria for chronic insomnia. This includes having specific symptoms as measured by a sleep questionnaire. However, those with cognitive impairments, certain medical conditions, or substance abuse issues are not eligible. If you join the trial, you can expect to attend group sessions that focus on learning and improving your sleep without relying heavily on medication. This could be a good opportunity to gain knowledge and support while addressing your sleep concerns.
