ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, called "Hypertonic Lactate After Cardiac Arrest," is exploring whether giving a special solution called sodium lactate after someone has been resuscitated from cardiac arrest can help reduce brain damage. Researchers believe that this treatment might improve brain health by lowering the levels of a specific protein in the blood that indicates brain injury. The trial is currently recruiting participants who are adults over 18 years old, have experienced cardiac arrest but have been successfully resuscitated for at least 20 minutes, and are in a coma with a low level of consciousness.
If you or a loved one might be eligible, please note that participants should not have traumatic causes of cardiac arrest, should weigh less than 120 kg, and should not be in a situation where life support is expected to be withdrawn within 24 hours. Those who join the study can help researchers learn more about how to protect the brain after such critical events, potentially leading to better treatments in the future.
