ClinConnect Summary
The Y of Central Maryland Head Start Asthma Implementation trial is studying how to improve asthma care for young children enrolled in Head Start programs. Although there are effective programs that help reduce asthma symptoms in low-income preschoolers, we need to find better ways to make these programs last and work well in community settings. This trial focuses on creating and testing a tailored education program that teaches both staff and families about asthma management. By collaborating with local Head Start centers, the goal is to see if these customized strategies can help reduce asthma symptoms and school absences in children.
To participate in this trial, you need to be 18 years or older and either a staff member of a Head Start program or a caregiver of a child with asthma who is currently enrolled in Head Start. You should also be able to understand the study and agree to be recorded during interviews. Participants can expect to be involved in discussions and activities that will help shape the program, and their feedback will be crucial in making asthma care better for children in the community. This study is currently recruiting participants in several areas, including Baltimore City and surrounding counties.
