ClinConnect Summary
The RURAL Heart and Lung Study is a research project that aims to understand health issues related to heart and lung diseases in people living in rural areas. This study is being coordinated by the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Researchers want to gather information about how living in certain counties in Alabama, Kentucky, Louisiana, and Mississippi affects health over time, especially for those who have lived in these areas for at least two years.
If you are between 18 and 75 years old, live in one of the mentioned states, and have been there for the past two years, you might be eligible to participate. However, if you are currently in prison, receiving hospice care for a terminal illness, or being treated for cancer, you would not be able to join. Participants in the study can expect to contribute to important research that could help improve health care in rural communities. The study team will keep everyone informed through meetings and updates, but they will not directly interact with participants or access personal health information.
