ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how two viruses, Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) and Streptococcus pneumoniae, spread within households, particularly focusing on young children and older adults. The goal is to understand how these infections are transmitted when family members live together and to see if there is a connection between the two viruses.
To participate, families need to have a baby under 5 months old who was born at Mackay Children's Hospital and is currently healthy. Family members living with the baby, including siblings aged 2-5, parents, and grandparents over 65, can also join. Participants will be asked to sign a consent form and use a messaging app called LINE to help keep track of the study. If you have a baby older than 5 months or certain health issues, or if family members do not live with the baby or refuse to participate, you won't be eligible for this trial. This is a great opportunity to help researchers learn more about these infections and how they spread, which can ultimately improve health outcomes for everyone.
