ClinConnect Summary
This study is testing a school-based program called ALLY (Advocates for All Youth) designed to boost well-being and reduce feelings of depression, anxiety, and stress in kids. It’s a universal program, meaning it’s offered to all students in participating schools, not just those with a problem. In this trial, students are randomly assigned to either receive the ALLY program during a 6-week period in school or a comparison condition (control). The goal is prevention—to help prevent later mental health problems.
Who can take part: children aged 9 to 14 (inclusive), of any gender, who are enrolled in a participating school and are healthy volunteers. There are no stated exclusion criteria beyond being in a participating school. The study is being conducted at Loachapoka Elementary School in Loachapoka, Alabama. The trial is currently enrolling by invitation, with results not yet available; it is led by the University of Colorado, Denver, and does not involve FDA-regulated drugs or devices. Primary outcomes look at anxiety and depression symptoms at about 3 months, using a standard questionnaire, while secondary outcomes look at self-efficacy (confidence in social, academic, and emotional areas) also around 3 months. Data from participants will not be shared with others.
