ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is looking to understand how certain cells in the fluid that builds up in the abdomen (called ascites) of ovarian cancer patients process nutrients. Researchers will give a special form of glucose (a type of sugar) to patients during a routine procedure where this fluid is drained. By studying how the cancer cells and immune cells in the ascites use this glucose, scientists hope to learn more about the tumor environment and potentially improve treatment strategies.

To participate in this study, women aged 65 to 74 who have ovarian cancer at any stage or grade, and who have ascites that needs to be drained, may be eligible. Participants should not have diabetes or any serious blood sugar issues, and they cannot be receiving chemotherapy during the five hours of the study. If you join the study, you will receive the glucose infusion during your regular treatment, and the research team will monitor how your body responds. This study is currently recruiting participants, so if you’re interested, it’s a good idea to talk to your doctor to see if you qualify.
