ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how the position of patients during hip arthroscopic surgery can help reduce numbness after the procedure. Hip arthroscopy is a type of surgery used to treat problems like hip osteoarthritis and injuries. During the surgery, a device is used to pull on the leg, which can create a better working space for the surgeon but sometimes leads to numbness in the perineal area (the area between the legs). Researchers believe that using a special cushion called a traction pad, along with the standard equipment, may help decrease both the occurrence and duration of this numbness.
To participate in this study, patients should be between the ages of 18 and 75, able to read and speak English, and planning to undergo hip arthroscopy at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. However, individuals who are having revision surgeries, certain cancer surgeries, or specific types of hip surgeries that involve different procedures won't be eligible. If you join this trial, you can expect to be part of a study that aims to improve comfort and recovery for hip surgery patients.
