ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how having misaligned teeth, known as malocclusions, affects the quality of life related to oral health in teenagers. The researchers want to understand this by using two questionnaires: one that focuses on how children perceive their oral health and another that looks at the social impacts of dental appearance. The study will compare the experiences of adolescents with different types of malocclusions to those who have straight teeth, as well as examining any differences based on gender and family income. Additionally, it will track changes in oral health quality of life before, during, and after orthodontic treatment, and also in teens who do not have malocclusions.
To be eligible for this study, participants need to be between 12 and 19 years old. They can either have significant malocclusions (the more severe grades) or be without malocclusions (the less severe or normal grades). Those who have previously had orthodontic treatment, have a cleft lip or palate, or have certain health issues that prevent them from completing the questionnaires will not be included. If you join the study, you’ll fill out surveys at different points in time to help researchers understand how your oral health impacts your daily life. This study is currently looking for participants, and your contribution could help improve understanding of dental health in young people.
