ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, called the Malaria Vaccine Pilot Evaluation (MVPE), is looking at the RTS,S/AS01 malaria vaccine to understand its safety and effectiveness. The study is taking place in Ghana, Malawi, and Kenya and involves community surveys and hospital data to see how well the vaccine is working. Researchers want to find out if the vaccine helps prevent severe cases of malaria and if it can lower the number of deaths from all causes in children. They will compare children who received the vaccine to those who did not, with the goal of gathering important information that can help improve malaria vaccination programs.
To participate in this study, children from 18 months to under 18 years old living in the areas where the vaccine is being used can be eligible, but their caregivers must agree to participate by signing a consent form. Participants will be asked questions about their health and may have follow-up appointments to monitor their well-being. This trial is crucial for understanding how the malaria vaccine can be used effectively and safely in communities.
