ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is investigating how lying in a face-down position (known as the "prone position") affects heart activity in patients with COVID-19, particularly those experiencing severe breathing difficulties. Researchers want to see if this position can help improve heart function as measured by an electrocardiogram (ECG), which is a test that checks the heart's electrical activity. Previous studies have shown that the prone position can lower the risk of death in patients with severe lung problems caused by COVID-19, but there isn't much information about how it impacts the heart in these patients.
To be eligible for the trial, participants must be adults aged 18 to 80 who have been admitted to a specialized COVID-19 ward and are experiencing lung issues. However, individuals who are on a breathing machine (intubated) or who have had a cardiac arrest cannot participate. If you join the study, you can expect to be monitored closely while lying in the prone position and have your heart activity recorded using ECG tests. This research could provide valuable insights into how best to care for COVID-19 patients who have both lung and heart complications.
