ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how well the muscles we use to breathe are working in children with certain health conditions, such as neuromuscular diseases or lung issues. The aim is to better understand breathing difficulties and find ways to help manage them. Researchers will use a special test that involves placing a thin tube (called an esogastric probe) into the body to closely check how the diaphragm and other breathing muscles are functioning. This will help them see if these muscles are not working properly and how much effort the child needs to breathe, whether they are breathing on their own or using a machine.
To participate in this study, children under 18 years old who have breathing muscle problems and are being treated at Necker Hospital may be eligible. They need to be able to give their consent, and their condition should allow them to cooperate during the testing. However, children with certain issues, like severe agitation or unstable health, may not be able to join. Participants can expect to undergo tests that will help doctors learn more about their breathing muscles, which could lead to better treatment options in the future.
