ClinConnect Summary
The Penn SICCA Follow-up Study is a research effort focusing on dry eye and Sjogren's syndrome, a condition that can cause dryness in various parts of the body, including the eyes and mouth. This study aims to gather additional information from patients who have already taken part in a previous study about Sjogren's syndrome. Participants will provide samples such as tears, saliva, and blood, and may also undergo a simple check-up that includes tests for dry eyes and mouth. For those who haven't had a lip biopsy before, a small tissue sample may be taken from the lip, but this is not necessary for everyone.
To be eligible for this study, you must be at least 18 years old and have previously participated in the SICCA study at the University of Pennsylvania. If you meet these criteria and are interested, you'll need to sign a consent form to participate. The study is not yet recruiting participants, so more information will be available soon. Overall, this study hopes to improve our understanding of dry eye and Sjogren's syndrome to help those affected by these conditions.
