ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is focused on improving treatment for Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD) specifically for gender minority individuals, such as transgender and gender non-conforming people. These individuals often experience higher rates of alcohol-related issues, and there aren’t any proven treatment options designed for them. The study aims to develop and test a new type of therapy called interpersonal psychotherapy (IPT), which will be adjusted to better fit the unique experiences and challenges faced by gender minority individuals.
To participate, individuals need to identify as a gender minority, speak English, and currently have moderate to severe AUD while actively seeking treatment. They should also be able to understand and agree to the study procedures. However, people with certain severe mental health conditions or a history of serious alcohol withdrawal symptoms will not be eligible. The trial is not yet recruiting participants, but when it begins, those who join can expect to take part in a supportive therapy designed to help address their specific needs related to alcohol use.
