ClinConnect Summary
The Vascular Remodeling After Living Kidney Donation Study is looking into how living kidney donation affects blood vessels in donors over time. Researchers want to learn about changes in small, medium, and large blood vessels before and one year after someone donates a kidney. Understanding these changes is important because kidney donors may have a higher risk of developing heart and kidney problems later on. By studying these factors, the trial aims to improve how candidates for kidney donation are assessed and potentially create new ways to better select donors.
To participate in this study, you need to be a candidate for living kidney donation, covered by national health insurance, and able to understand what being in the study means. You will need to provide written consent to join. Participants can expect non-invasive tests that will measure changes in their blood vessels, and there will also be a control group of potential donors who did not proceed with donation for various reasons. This study is currently recruiting participants of all genders aged 65 and older.
