ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the effects of a procedure called laparoscopic lavage during laparoscopic appendectomy, which is surgery to remove the appendix. Researchers want to find out if using this washing technique impacts the chances of developing complications, like abscesses (pockets of infection) after surgery, especially in patients with different levels of infection and severity of appendicitis. The goal is to understand whether this technique should be used based on how severe the condition is and how contaminated the abdominal area is during the operation.
To be eligible to participate, patients must be between 18 and 69 years old and diagnosed with acute appendicitis that requires laparoscopic surgery. Patients who have had previous surgeries for appendicitis, other abdominal infections, or certain health conditions, like immune system issues, cannot participate. Those who join the trial will contribute to important research that could help improve surgical practices and outcomes for future patients with appendicitis.
