ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the relationship between a virus called HHV8 and solid organ transplants, like kidney, liver, and lung transplants. HHV8 can sometimes cause health issues after transplantation, so the trial will test patients and their organ donors for this virus before and during the transplant process. If there is a mismatch between the donor and recipient regarding HHV8 status, or if the recipient has already been exposed to the virus, their blood will be regularly checked for the virus’s DNA.
Anyone who is a donor or a patient on the waiting list for a kidney, liver, or lung transplant may be eligible to participate in this trial. There are no specific exclusions for donors or recipients, making it open to a wide range of participants. If you join this trial, you can expect to have your blood tested for HHV8 at certain times, which helps the medical team keep track of any potential complications related to this virus after the transplant. Overall, this trial aims to improve the safety and outcomes for patients receiving organ transplants.
