ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is called "An Enhanced Package of Care to Reduce Mortality in Advanced HIV Disease." It aims to find out if a special care program can help people with advanced HIV live longer and stay engaged in their treatment. The study will use a method called point of care CD4 testing, which helps measure the strength of the immune system, combined with additional screenings and preventive treatments for infections that can occur in people with weakened immune systems.
To participate in this trial, you need to be over 18 years old, have a CD4 count of less than 200 cells per microliter (which indicates advanced HIV), and be willing to give consent for the enhanced care program. Unfortunately, if you have a controlled viral load (meaning your HIV is well-managed) or cannot regularly attend clinic visits, you won’t be eligible. If you join, you can expect regular visits for testing and care, and you’ll be part of an effort to improve health outcomes for those with advanced HIV disease.
