ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking into how well skills learned from exercising in water can help improve balance compared to exercising on land. The study will involve 44 older adults, aged 60 and above, who will be randomly assigned to either an aquatic exercise group or a land exercise group. Both groups will participate in a balance training session, which includes activities like throwing and catching a ball. Researchers will then assess how quickly and accurately participants can respond to balance challenges before, immediately after, and one week after the training session.
To be eligible for this trial, participants need to be able to stand for one minute with both feet together and walk independently. They also need to have normal or corrected vision and hearing. However, individuals with certain neurological or muscle disorders, a recent concussion, cognitive issues, or a fear of water will not be able to participate. This trial is not yet recruiting, but it aims to provide valuable insights into improving balance and preventing falls in older adults.
