ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how family relationships can impact weight loss for Mexican American women who are dealing with obesity. The researchers believe that improving communication and reducing conflict within families can help make it easier to adopt healthier eating and exercise habits. To do this, the study will provide counseling to mothers and their adult daughters, aiming to create a supportive environment that encourages long-term weight management.
To participate in this trial, you must be a female between the ages of 18 and 65, identify as Mexican or Mexican American, and live in San Diego County. You should also have a body mass index (BMI) of 25-45, which indicates you are overweight or have obesity. Participants can expect to engage in sessions that focus on building better family interactions while working together on weight management goals. It's important to note that this study is not for those who are currently in a weight loss program, have recently had weight loss surgery, or have certain medical or psychological conditions.
