ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is exploring a new way to assess the condition of patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) using advanced technology. The researchers aim to develop a smart system that can observe and understand patients' facial expressions, movements, and overall physical state without relying solely on busy nurses. By using special sensors and artificial intelligence, the goal is to better recognize signs of pain, emotional distress, and changes in physical function. This could help doctors provide more accurate and timely care for critically ill patients.
To participate in this trial, you must be at least 18 years old and currently admitted to the UF Health Shands Gainesville ICU, with a plan to stay there for at least 24 hours. Unfortunately, if you are under 18, currently on isolation precautions, or expected to leave the ICU within 24 hours, you would not be eligible. If you choose to join, you will be part of an effort to improve how healthcare providers monitor and respond to patient needs, potentially leading to better outcomes for everyone in the ICU.
