ClinConnect Summary
The HEARTPrep trial is focused on helping mothers who are expecting a baby with congenital heart disease (CHD), which is a common heart defect that can be diagnosed before birth. Many mothers find this news very stressful, and this stress can affect both their health and their baby's development. To address this, the HEARTPrep program offers a supportive online intervention designed to improve the emotional well-being of these mothers. This study will help gather important information about how effective this program is before moving on to a larger trial.
To be eligible for this study, mothers must be at least 18 years old, fluent in English or Spanish, and expecting a baby diagnosed with CHD that will likely need surgery within the first year of life. They should also be receiving care from Nemours Children's Health and have access to a device with internet. Partners are welcome to join in the study as well. Participants can expect to engage in virtual sessions that provide emotional support and coping strategies during this challenging time. Overall, the goal is to help mothers feel more supported and improve outcomes for their babies.
