ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial, titled "Magnesium and Cognition After Stroke," is exploring how magnesium levels in the body might affect thinking and memory in people who have had a stroke. After a stroke, many patients experience difficulties with memory, finding the right words, and understanding their surroundings. Researchers want to find out if low magnesium levels contribute to these cognitive challenges or if they are simply a result of the stroke itself. This study is important because it aims to better understand the relationship between magnesium, how severe the stroke was, and cognitive function in patients during their recovery.

To participate in this trial, individuals aged 65 and older who have experienced either an ischemic (caused by a blocked blood vessel) or hemorrhagic (caused by bleeding in the brain) stroke may be eligible. However, those with pre-existing dementia, certain mental health conditions, or who are currently pregnant or breastfeeding cannot join. Participants will be asked to provide written consent and will be monitored throughout the study to assess their cognitive function and magnesium levels. This research could help improve the care and recovery process for stroke patients in the future.
