ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how exercise can help people with treatment-resistant depression (TRD), which means they haven't improved enough with standard antidepressant medications. The researchers want to see if a program that includes regular exercise can reduce depressive symptoms, improve physical health, and enhance overall quality of life for these individuals. Participants will be divided into two groups: one will follow an exercise program, exercising two days a week, while the other will continue with their usual treatment without any additional exercise.
To be eligible for this trial, participants must be diagnosed with major depression and have not responded well to at least two different antidepressants. They should also be able to give their informed consent. However, individuals with certain conditions, such as schizophrenia, a high risk of suicide, or severe physical limitations that prevent them from exercising, will not be included. Over the course of three months, participants can expect to engage in enjoyable exercise and possibly experience improvements in their mood and physical health, such as better heart health and overall fitness.
