ClinConnect Summary
The ENDOCARDITIS AUMC Data Collection trial is studying patients with a heart condition called infective endocarditis, which is an infection of the heart valves. The researchers want to compare these patients, who need valve surgery, with those who are having similar surgery for other non-infectious reasons. The goal is to find ways to improve care for these high-risk patients during and after their surgery.
To be eligible for this study, participants must be at least 18 years old, speak either Dutch or English, and be admitted to the Amsterdam UMC for infective endocarditis. This includes patients who are scheduled for heart valve surgery because of the infection, as well as a similar group of patients undergoing surgery for other reasons. However, individuals with a history of blood clotting disorders cannot participate. Those who join the study can expect to provide information about their health and treatment, helping researchers understand how to better manage care for these serious heart conditions.
