ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, called "Avoid and Resist Strategies for Weight Management," is exploring two different ways to help people with overweight or obesity lose weight and improve their eating habits. The first approach, called AVOID, focuses on changing the environment to make it easier to eat healthier. The second approach, RESIST, teaches people how to control their impulses when it comes to food choices. The goal is to see which strategy works better for helping participants achieve their weight loss goals.
To join the trial, participants need to be at least 18 years old and have a body mass index (BMI) between 25 and 45, which indicates they are overweight or obese. They should also be able to read, write, and speak English. If they live with someone aged 14 or older, that household member will also need to help with some assessments during the study. However, certain people, such as those currently trying to lose weight through other programs, pregnant women, or individuals with specific health issues, will not be eligible to participate. If you join, you can expect to take part in assessments over a year, contributing to important research aimed at improving weight management strategies.
